Caregiver Study

*Recruiting now through Winter 2008

Are you a caregiver for a husband with dementia? Or a woman over the age of 65? If so, we would like to invite you to participate in a study being conducted by the Emotion and Health research laboratory at the University of California, Irvine. The purpose of the study is to examine physiological and psychological reactions to stress. Our study has two components: a laboratory session and a nightly phone interview. The laboratory session will be conducted at the University of California, Irvine. During the session, you will be asked to complete a series of psychological questionnaires and problem solving activities. In addition, a trained nurse will take saliva and blood samples from you so that we can measure the release of certain hormones and aspects of the immune system. For the nightly interview, you will be called for eight consecutive nights, with each call lasting for about 15 minutes. You will be compensated $35.00 for your time. If you would like to participate or have any questions, please call the emotion research laboratory or e-mail James Mackay at jmackay@uci.edu.
